Steel Trailers and Stock Trailers Painted and Rejuvenated
I rejuvenate old STEEL stock trailers, I charged $650 to do this 2 horse trailer.
I am currently repainting a 4 horse, Gooseneck for $850. I have 25 years experience in industrial
and metal painting. The trailer must be brought to me in Westmoreland, in order to get this kind of pricing.
I use Industrial Enamel paint:
Industrial
Enamel is a medium oil/alkyd all-purpose enamel with a durable color pigment system. Designed for interior and exterior use.
It
is used to coat industrial piping and tanks and steel building etc.
I
have painted the tanks, pipes, control rooms At TVA and DuPont and have lots of experience with many types of coatings which
are inspected by industrial codes.
The weather is a major factor in being able to complete the job within a 1-2 eek period.
FQA : I do not paint or coat ALUMINUM trailers. Aluminum has a baked-on finished it requires a liquid deglosser or solvent to remove the existing
finish probably better to spray aluminum, which I am not set up to do right now. Painted aluminum needs touch up every couple of
years because the paint does not really last. Aluminum is factory anodized or power coated and baked. In any case too many variables aluminum is not an option.
I
do not sand blast. I
blasted the inside of the tanks at TVA, otherwiseon pipe and outer tank surfaces, I preped with a wire wheel on an angle
grinder, which works very well without the huge mess and the additional cost of the 100 lb. bag of glass beads. Also on these trailers if
there is a rusted section that needs to be sealed and repaired with Quick bond, the sand blasting can often widen the hole
and create a bigger problem.
